Alternative Provision

We provide an alternative provision for schools, local government, and other organisations, designed to meet wider educational, social, and community outcomes which encompass a wide range of needs, behaviours and learning styles. Our aim is to assess, monitor and evaluate the behavioural, emotional and learning outcomes of your students. We provide a holistic approach to children and young people by offering positive experiences which support behavioural insight, develop positive relationships, provide an understanding of boundaries and promote self-esteem, confidence and emotional regulation.

Hello world

What our provision includes

Initial evaluation: The process begins with a review of the referral form and any supporting documents by the therapy team. This is followed by a discussion with the SENCO, social or family support worker, or another relevant professional to gain a full understanding of the student’s needs and goals.

Assessment session: An assessment session is then carried out to identify the student’s individual needs and ensure appropriate support can be put in place. A suitable facilitator is allocated, and the student is given the opportunity to choose a horse to work with, which may remain consistent throughout the sessions if preferred.

Referral meeting: A referral meeting is held to discuss any further requirements and confirm that the necessary arrangements are in place to ensure the intended learning outcomes can be met effectively.

Starting point assessment: During the first session, a starting point assessment is conducted to establish a baseline for tracking the student’s progress. This is supported by ongoing evaluations, which are incorporated into regular sessions to monitor development.

Progress tracking: Termly progress reports are produced to highlight changes, development, and achievements, providing a clear record of the student’s journey over time.

Communication and feedback: Communication is maintained through informal check-in meetings with the school, council, parent, or carer. These provide opportunities for updates and discussion of any concerns that may arise.

Certification opportunity: Students also have the option to complete AQA Awards. Certificates are available across up to 200 equine-specific units, offering a tangible and recognised learning outcome.
