Schools Provision

Our provision to schools is a comprehensive package to encompass a wide range of needs, behaviours and learning styles. Our aim is to assess, monitor and evaluate the emotional, physical and learning outcomes of your students.

We provide a holistic approach to children and young people by offering positive experiences which support sound mental health and promote wellbeing.

Hello world

What does our provision include?

  • An evaluation of your referral form by our therapy team, which is followed up with a personal discussion to assess your student’s needs and aims with a SENCO, pastoral or other school representative (as appropriate).

  • Your student, a school representative and/or their parent/carer are invited to visit us during a quiet time to meet and interact with the horses and our team. This allows us to provide a detailed overview and for your student to experience some of the activities they would be able to engage in. It also allows your student to familiarize themselves with the environment, the facilitators and to choose their preferred horse/pony who they will work with during all future sessions.

  • Further requirements are discussed by the team during a referral meeting to place the student with the most appropriate facilitator and convenient time slot to ensure all of your students' learning outcomes are appropriately and successfully met.

  • A starting point assessment is carried out with your student during their first session. This ensures that progress can be monitored throughout their time at Horses for Good. Further in-session evaluations take place as part of your student’s regular participation programme.

  • Termly progress reports are provided to the school.

  • Informal check in meetings with the school/parent/carer to keep all parties updated and to provide an opportunity to discuss any additional concerns or feedback.

  • Facilitators hold monthly supervision sessions to ensure best therapeutic practice and uphold professional standards.

  • Regular evaluations are completed to form the basis for termly or other reports which may be required by the school.

How long are the sessions?

  • All one-to-one sessions last one hour
  • Multiple sessions can be booked per day or per week during school hours
  • Group sessions can take place upon request and will include multiple facilitators according to the group and session duration will be tailored to meet group needs
