Diego

Diego grazing in the field.

Piebald 7 year old 16hh Irish Cob x Thoroughbred gelding.

Diego has been with us since 2020 when he arrived with severe behavioural issues which have almost been entirely overcome. It is likely that he was weaned from his mother too early. He was rehomed as a foal and again as a two year old. He suffered from separation anxiety and he became a virtually unleadable, unrideable rogue by the age of five, regularly breaking  fence boundaries. After a year of struggling his owner concluded that he needed rehoming but due to his unmanageable behaviour was fearful that he would be put down if he was moved on. Diego was gifted to us for a second chance.

Following groundwork training, addressing his emotional struggles and stabilising his mood swings he is now leadable and rideable. Since May 2021 Diego has competed in agility training and has come first twice at international advanced level.

Diego is a funny, cheeky horse who is sometimes in a world of his own with his random behaviour. He is very attached to Flo, is being gentle and kind and has developed a real bond with our newcomer, TK.
